2lb Dead Blow Hammer

Our heaviest dead blow hammer and by far my preferred one!  I get wonderfully clean impressions with hardly any real effort.  A 2lb Dead Blow hammer with a brass head is the PERFECT way to make impressions on metals!

Additional DescriptionMore Details

The weight on the head really helps give you some force behind your swing without having to bash the poor metal to death. The brass head is ideal due to the soft properties of brass. The brass head will become scuffed and dinged after use because the brass absorbs some of the impact. This stops your hammer from having “kick back” or “stuttering” on your metal stamp. Steel hammers will vibrate a little too much. I prefer using the 2lb ESPECIALLY if I am working with design stamps and not just fonts. Design stamps are more difficult to get clean impressions of due to their intricate images. Hammer is made by Bead Smith.

1lb Dead Blow Hammer

A great weight for a dead blow hammer.  Not quite as “intimidating” as the 2lb but with enough “oomph” to still make nice impressions with your metal stamps.

12oz Dead Blow Hammer

This hammer has a brass head and nice 12oz weight to it that gives you more “oomph” per hammer swing. The more weight behind your hammer, the more likely that you’ll get a nice imprint on your first strike.

Additional DescriptionMore Details

This is our lightest dead blow hammer. Keep in mind that the more weight you have to your hammer, the more impact you’ll get. If you are interested in doing intricate font stamps or design stamps, heavier hammers will suite your needs better.

HALF-DOME CHASING HAMMER

One side 1 inch wide slightly domed flat head and the other small round head (ball pein)

Additional DescriptionMore Details

Great for flattening and adding texture to metal sheet and wire. The slightly domed head on this chasing hammer prevents you from marking the metals with the edge of the hammer (as may happen with a completely flat faced chasing hammer). The exchange is there will always be a slight bend to your strikes.

Rawhide Hammer – 1 1/4″ face

If you do any metal work, you are bound to need a rawhide hammer! The rawhide hammer allows you to hammer your metals without actually marring or scratching them. The more you work a piece of metal, especially with texturing and design stamps, the more it will begin to curl and you’ll often want to flatten it back out. A rawhide is also handy when shaping a piece of metal around a mandrel. This rawhide hammer has a 1 1/4″ face, 2 1/2″ head, and weighs 4oz. This is made with a screw to hold it all together rather than nails or staples. Hand-crafted in the USA with from buffalo hides and hickory handle.
